The Armed Forces
The MOD Civil Service exists to enable, equip and support the three armed services in the delivery of defence capability. These are the Royal Navy, Army and the Royal Air Force.
Royal Navy
Paramount within the Royal Navy's (RN's) role is provision of the UK's strategic nuclear deterrent. In conventional terms, the RN provides three core capabilities: aircraft carrier task force groups, amphibious forces and nuclear powered attack submarines. These are supported by surface escorts, mine warfare vessels and supply shipping.
The Army
The Army is a highly capable force able to undertake a wide variety of tasks throughout the world, which range from fighting high intensity warfare to humanitarian and peace keeping operations. Key to the Army's success is its excellent training and its use of some of the latest and most modern equipment available.
Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force (RAF) mission is to deliver air power in the most effective manner to meet the UK's security and defence requirements, placing a premium on personnel and equipment which offers flexibility, mobility, combat power and utility across the full spectrum of contingencies.

"The opportunity to work with people who have experience in the MoD, and have a lot of extremely valuable knowledge to share has been an enlightening experience. Working alongside the armed forces on a daily basis has also provided a good insight into military knowledge, and I have met some very interesting people." Find out more
